Gustave Moreau (1826-1898) est le précurseur du symbolisme, dont le style très singulier rend l’art immédiatement reconnaissable. Tout comme l’ont fait les artistes préraphaélites en Angleterre, le peintre s’est érigé en maître d’un nouveau genre. Il légua à sa mort son atelier, empli de milliers de créations, laissant à la postérité l’histoire de toute une vie vouée à l’art ! Cette monographie s’inscrit dans la collection “Les Carrés d’Art”.
